Here is where the seawall work ended on day one of reconstruction.
The men worked really hard all day. Now that I'm learning to speak Spanish I can chuckle at some of the things they say to each other. For instance, one of them said to a young worker, llegado el abuelo. It made me laugh hysterically.
Here is a close up shot of what's going on with the removal of the boardwalk. With the canal being between us, we have to go all the way around to visit our neighbors. I wanted to get some great photos of the seawall so around the block we went.
As you can see all the wall pieces that were delivered last Friday are now in place along our property line. This shows the new wall in place. It's much more attractive and more stable than the one that was previously there.
This beautiful heron came up to me while we were getting photos of the seawall. Sorry my friend, I don't feed the wildlife. I do this for two reasons. The first reason being, I'm too afraid I will get bitten, pecked or flogged. The second reason being I believe that wildlife should remain independent and free from the confines of man. But I do like taking photos of you and apparently the heron didn't mind because he posed beautifully.
I snapped this photo of the house because I'm just not sure about that color. Once the vestibule and shutters are painted cream maybe the soft green tone will pop a little more. It does look much better than the peach against the stone though. Doesn't it?
The tree has been removed. Can you tell I power washed the stone, house, sidewalks and fountain? A lot of the plants have been sorted through and removed. We still have a long way to go before our fixer upper is where it should be.
