You just gotta meet our new four month old puppy. We adopted her just this afternoon. Mi Miguel and I are incredibly in love with this sweet, sweet girl.
What prompted us to get a puppy? We've wanted a dog for quite a while but could never find the right fit for us. We wanted short-haired, lazy, medium sized dog with a great mutt mixture. That's hard to find.
We didn't want a yapper, we knew that for sure. The owners can be worse than the dogs once all the yapping begins. Somewhat quiet is good.
We didn't want a dog that costs thousands of dollars. That was definitely the deal breaker for a cute little Cavalier King Charles. They are such gorgeous puppies but no one should be making that kind of money from breeding dogs.
We didn't want a dog that suffered from separation anxiety, been there done that...never again if we can avoid it.
We didn't want anything too small because we needed our dog to be trail hardy and adventurous. In fact while bike riding this morning, I felt an urge to go to our local shelter and so we did. But, we were told that the dogs were at Adoption Day at our local pet store. So off we went to see if our little mixed breed, regular, every day kind of dog was there.
And then we stumbled across this sweet little puppy today. She was everything we were looking for and almost overlooked her because we thought the write up on her said 4 years not 4 months.
We continued to look at all the dogs. There were several that we liked but none of them were exactly what we were looking for in the way of a plain old dog.
Over the years I've mentioned a time or two that I would love to have a lazy bloodhound dog, but maybe with a bit of pep. They are your companion but they aren't going to knock themselves out doing so. I love that. Problem is you don't see them very often. But today we found our lazy, yet adventurous beagle/hound puppy.
Her name was Billie, since she originally came from Alabama I changed her name to Banjo. The foster parents she had for the past few weeks did a tremendous job of loving her and teaching her to sit. She is nearly housebroken. Our lazy little Banjo is a blessing indeed.
The more time we spend with our sweet lil Banjo the more she is reminding me of a Mountain Cur. Doesn't she look similar to this Mountain Cur?
