Feels Like Home

Mi Miguel and I have lived in several places. Being military we lived in Greece for four years and then Illinois for twenty-eight years becoming civilians during that time. We always felt like visitors no matter where we lived. I suppose it's because neither of us were from Greece or the Illinois/St. Louis metro area. After the last two years we quickly realized that Indiana wasn't our home either. Even though I grew up there we just didn't feel like residents.

Life here in Florida has been a whirlwind and we love every minute of it. The family getting together, the beach, the shopping, the restaurants, the friendly people, the beautiful birds, the unusual flowers and the trees. It's all beautiful and we can't get enough of it.

Every day there is a different type of bird outside my window. I'm pretty sure this is a crane.

I'm thinking this may be a crane or egret of some sort too.

What would a Florida view be without a pelican by the water.

While we're waiting to see what's in store for us here in Florida,

...we go for lots of walks on the beach and around the neighborhood.

...and we spend each Sunday looking for a really good church. Basically, we are in a state of limbo. The good thing about being in this predicament is that we have learned the things that we like and don't like about Florida.

I'm not a fan of the heat or any kind of mosquitoes or just any people biting bugs. The only other thing that I have found in Florida that I don't particularly care for is the....

incredible traffic. It's everywhere almost all of the time. The traffic lights are long and the other drivers are never content with any one lane. It's constant darting in and out and weaving. Other than the heat, the bugs and the traffic, Florida is great!

The things I love so far are the beach, the shopping, the restaurants and the really friendly people that we have met so far.

Speaking of restaurants, Mi Miguel and I are staring the restaurant alphabet dining this week. Our first stop is a Greek restaurant that starts with the letter A. We'll let you know how that goes.

Hopefully, we will have big news to announce real soon and then we can proceed with our life in Florida. Can you guess what our big news is going to be? Here's a clue...
